ARTIST COLLABORATIONS

Since my earliest days I’ve enjoyed collaborating with others: from roleplaying elaborate Lego stories to chasing copy for fictive magazines in Dublin, I’m lucky to have worked with some incredible creative partners in crime. A small selection you can check out:

John Ryaner

Natalie Czech

Darko Dragicevic

Lorenzo Sandoval

Ari Benjamin Meyer

‘NIXER’ JOHN RYANer

I wrote a short story for the exhibition The Etymology of Disease by the artst John Ryaner in Oslo, Norway.

The text was incorporated into the show and the artworks, as well as being displayed on the walls of the gallery.

‘Negative calligrame’ for natalie czech

Having worked with Natalie on previous bodies of work, I was delighted to be invited by her to write a text for this series, an intense constraint leading to formal invention and poetic meanderings. Other writers in the series included: Julien Bismuth, Robert Fitterman, Lucy Ives, Shiv Kotecha and Quinn Latimer.

Ari Benjamin Meyers has created a temporary rock band. The name of this band is The Art. This work consists of the annotated songbook with 10 original scores by Ari Benjamin Meyers for voice, electric guitar, electric bass and drums; signed and framed contractual band agreement; 4 white pre-worn costumes; full set of 21 individual band t-shirts created in the context of the first presentation in Zurich.

The artist has invited Kathi Glas and Kai Knappe of Georgie+Timmy Studio to design the costumes and merchandise and John Holten, author and editor in chief of Broken Dimanche Press, to write scenarios and liner notes that accompany each song.

Office party - Lorenzo sandoval

I’ve worked with Lorenzo on many projects over the years and travelled, conducted workshops and dicussed various aspects of art and theory across Europe.

For this project he invited four writers to respond to a set of found photographs, writing stories that would embody an office architecture he installed in the gallery, thus filling out the space with both time and narratives, creating a multitude of voices on several different temporal planes. Was exhibition twice in Kinderhook & Caracas in Berlin and Gallery Rosa Santos Gallery in Valencia

The lgb Group with Darko Dragičević

When Darko read my manuscript of The Readymades I was nervous. Here was a Serbian artist who embodied the very fictional hero I put at the centre of my meta-fictional novel. Afterwards not only did he help me factcheck and finetune the novel’s details, when I approached him about my ideas for including visual art in the book to fill out the aprocaphyra, he purposed himself. What followed was an intense collaboration over years, from Berlin to Paris, Milan to New York (and beyond).
